Seven Springs Polka Fireworks

A byproduct of being oh-so very Polish-American is an extensive knowledge and understanding of Polka music (and as such, all of its events, goings on, and extremities). In 2025, one of the largest national gatherings of Polka fans celebrated its 50th year in business: the beloved Seven Springs Polka Fireworks Festival. The opportunity to develop new graphics and merchandise for an event like this only graces a designer’s desk once in a lifetime; so I made sure to give it all I could, down to the bumper stickers!

An historic fixture in the legacy of Polish American music, Seven Springs Polka Fireworks is a nationally renowned celebration of polka music, fireworks, and community. This event, marking its milestone 50th anniversary in July 2025, offered a unique opportunity to honor the event’s rich heritage while infusing fresh energy into its visual identity. This graphic identity draws inspiration from the rich nostalgia of vintage polka dance posters, the bold energy of mid-century lounge signage, and the warmth of archival polka band photography. These elements serve to evoke the cultural roots of the genre, combining layered typography, vivid colors, and dynamic layouts to celebrate its 50th anniversary milestone.

The three original founders of the Polka Festival have been emblematic faces of the event for decades. The most recent illustrations were a bit dated in style; I took the chance to redraw them in a more timeless fashion, and thus was able to also animate them for an added layer of fun.
